Brooklyn-based independent, non-profit publishing house, Zone Books, was founded in 1985 and publishes original texts in the arts, humanities, and social sciences.
We designed a website inspired by their existing print identity and a back catalogue animated by their ability to intersperse a remarkable consistency of vision with unexpected moments of surprise. The system’s agility and flexibility enables their small, dedicated team to easily create new pages for book launches and associated events. In this site about critical reading, a “blind spot” changes color seasonally and transitions the user from exploring the catalog to learning about recent news, social media posts, and upcoming events.
