Our website for Salmagundi, a quarterly journal of the Arts and Humanities published at Skidmore College, brings a long history of intellectual engagement to life by foregrounding its diverse content.
The homepage surfaces typographic headlines that draw from typesetting anomalies through the decades of the journal’s publishing history, creating a true ‘salmagundi’ of articles with unexpected juxtapositions.
Using our flexible and user-friendly content management system, Economy, we designed the site’s information architecture with e-commerce in mind. Much less a ‘salmagundi’, all issues of the journal are available for purchase by default and all individual articles on the site are connected to their parent issue. This creates more efficient workflows for ongoing site maintenance and catalogue updates while making it easy for users to access full issues based on articles they have read.
